Day one in Atlanta

Image
Was a very long day.  Started out at the Cival War Cyclorama.  It was all about the battle for Atlanta.  While interesting, I would not put it on my top list of places to visit.  The next stop was the "Gone With The Wind" museum in Jonesboro.  Very nice museum and worth the visit.   Afterwards we toured the Stately Oaks 1839 Plantation.   It was beautiful.  We concluded the day strolling through the Confederate graveyard.  Beautiful and sad at the same time.  Long day, time to prop the feet up.

Charolette to Atlanta

we spent three days in Charlote visiting relatives and attended a funeral for my aunt.  We took a lot of pictures, but being a family affair will not being posting any pictures of those days.  We are now in Atlanta GA for a few days and will post picturs from this stop.  We got a nice suite here of which I have posted those pics.  it is a two room suite with two full baths.  Nice!!  More to come over the next couple of days.

Deborah and I had a great time in Savannah GA.  The first night we arrived there we went to the river walk and had dinner at "The River House".  it was delicious.  Deb had a whole lobster an I had oysters, shrimp and flounder.  The next day we did a whirlwind tour of the city.  We started at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Musuem.  The musuem was fascinating and very sad at the same time.  While there we met a WW2 veteran and chatted with him for a little while.  He was a gunner on the B17 bomber and was one of the fortunate to make it through many missions during the bombings of Germany.  We then went to Old Fort Jackson,  this fort was used in the revolutionary war and the civil war.  It was a great little tour with cannon firings.  Then on to an old graveyard where General Nathaniel Green from the Revolutionary war is buried along with many other famous soldiers and leaders.  From there we visited St John the Baptist Cathedral.  The cathedral was beautiful but nothing like the
